My gear
« on: February 24, 2016, 11:52:14 PM »
Here is what I use to cook outdoors. Some more than others.  Much more. Two photos of the SI and CS for comparison, although due to perspective, the SI is NOT as wide as the CS as the photo may indicate. And one photo showing how I check progress without opening the smoker.

The borescope beats opening the door and dumping heat. A little $80 toy from Home Depot.

I love the bore scope, too!  Those Ducane grills are really nice.  How long have you had it, and have you had any problems?

I bought the Duane in 2003.   It was actually made in California by Twin Eagles for Ducane because of all the stainless steel and they had a couple they could not sell at full retail. I snagged the larger of the two at a decent price.  And I have had no problems of any kind.  It is really a solid grill.   Weber has since bought out Ducane and their old standby's (cast aluminum  cooker boxes) are long since gone.

Didn't know Weber bought Ducane, Dave.  I'll have to look into the changes!

Sarge,

That's a heck of an idea using that scope!  May have to git me one, just for fun!

I have the bases covered. But as I aged, gas and electric became a means to keep the love of outdoor cooking alive.

I have a cheapie Iborescope2 that Bluetooths to phone/tablet. It's a pretty great toy for $100. Lets you get a much better picture than you would get on a traditional borescope. And you can take pictures which is pretty cool. I use it maybe once a month working on something I can't see into or behind. Maybe it will get some more use if I put it in my smoker cart.

Just do not linger too long in the hot smoker.  But it is fun!  I'm going to look up the Iborescope.
