I just received two five pound boxes of cherry and hickory. We’ll see how they smoke but I like the quality.

Any idea what their moisture content is and the average weight of the pieces? They look like good chunks.

Did you have to join the site to buy?  I can't get access to that site.

I ordered some peach and pecan from them and it smokes great!  Also ordered some alder chips since i smoke a lot of salmon and was getting tired of taking a hammer and chisel to my alder chunks, they have chips in 4 different sizes, impressive!  https://www.charcoalstore.com/collections/smoking-wood-chunks

I ordered mine through Amazon. I don't know about moisture content, they do seem to be a little drier than the sample that comes with the smoker. I weighed a number of chunks and they range from just over an ounce to 3 1/2 ounces. The majority are in the 2 - 2 1/2oz range.

I've not smoked with peach but it sounds like it may be time to start!

I'll be looking for some more feedback...  This quote, from their site, concerns me:  "Dried to very low moisture, so you get wood and not water."

Personally, I find the 20%+ moisture content ideal.  Long, thin blue smoke, and no combustion.  It looks like really clean chunks, though!

There will be something in the smoker in the next couple of days and I’ll report back. On the plus side if they’re to dry, it wouldn’t be too hard to adjust the moisture content.

Dave, looks like it is a secure site, so charcoalstore.com on it's own doesn't work. You need the full URL with includes the "s" in the https

Alrighty. Two different smokes. The first was ABT’s that smoked at 220 for an hour and fifteen minutes before before finishing in the oven. I used one chunk of cherry that weighed 1 3/4oz.

Second smoke was a turkey breast that went four+ hours at 225 with a 2 1/8oz chunk of cherry on “heavy” aluminum foil. Pretty pleased with both outcomes.
