ThermoPro TP20
« on: June 20, 2018, 07:31:37 PM »
Seasoning the #1 as I'm typing, I've noticed in most pics people leave the unit on top of the smoker, mine is pretty dang hot. I know I wont smoke at 250, but will it hold up 16 hours @ 225 repeatedly ? On a side note, does anybody have any experience good or bad with the TP20, had pretty good reviews on Amazon ?

You should be OK, just park it as far from the smoke vent as safely possible.

I leave my Thermoworks Chef Alarm on top during the entire cook and have not had any issues at this point.

I also looked at the thermopro, but went with the Thermoworks. I do wish I had the second unit for the overnight cooks. I may upgrade one day to the Thermoworks Smoke for that reason, or get really fancy and get the Fireboard.

But yes, the Thermopro seems like it would work well, given the number of reviews.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the input Jeremy, gave it the ice water / boiling water test today, pass. Will give it the true test Saturday on an overnight 7# brined butt.
