Bought a 2nd sous vide controller
« on: February 03, 2017, 11:10:50 AM »
I made the Anova tank out of a Coleman Party Stacker Cooler. Plans are here https://anovaculinary.com/sous-vide-cooler-guide/?utm_source=01.+Primary+Marketing+List&utm_campaign=0b070c4b12-Cooler_Email&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_f33347b916-0b070c4b12-100394941&ct=t(Cooler_Email)&goal=0_f33347b916-0b070c4b12-100394941&mc_cid=0b070c4b12&mc_eid=08761fe257#more-8941
I did not have the 2 3/8” hole saw they suggested, but a 2 ½” worked just fine as the Anova rests on the bottom of the cooler. I made this for use with the extra-long cooks as it will not lose as much heat. This meant 3 days without being able to sous vide anything else, so I bought this one- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01L7TOZ8U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It was way cheaper than the Anova and fits in the same hole, but without the clamp as it has its own clamp built in. Just got done with my first cook and it works just fine, although very noisy compared to the Anova.
Just wanted to share in case somebody else was considering doing something similar.

I hear you! I found out quickly that 1 Anova was not enough! I also have 2 and did the cooler mod for the long cook...
