Smoke Box Damage after 1st Smoke
« on: June 19, 2017, 10:42:14 AM »
Smoked 2 pork tenderloins for an hour and half, they came out great! When cleaning up I noticed I was able to wipe the finish off the top of the smoke box. You can see in the picture the other "damage".

Is this normal?

Did I do something wrong?

No damage. Just clean it up and you are good to go.

That's an awful lot of creosote for 1 smoke and would suspect that your wood caught fire.  No damage and not even necessary to clean as it will be part of every smoke you have.

Should I do anything different in the following smokes so the wood doesn't catch fire?

Use the search feature for wood catching fire. Also you can search for foil boat.
