First smoke in #3 = 6lb Bird
« on: March 31, 2016, 12:31:10 PM »
Hello all!

New to this forum and the Smokin It smoker so I wanted to post my first smoke with my #3. 6 pound bird's been injection brined and seasoned with Bone Suckin Sauce Rub. Im using 4oz Apple wood on this smoke. I just put it in and I'll post some more in a few hours. Thanks! ;D

Could be too much wood. For birds, I usually use 2-3. But Apple is fairly mild, so it may be alright.

Looking forward to hearing your results.

Looks really good. Poultry takes on smoke very well, so it is easy to over smoke. Pretty amazing how much smoke flavor you get from mew ounces of wood huh?

You are just getting started.

I think I was so used to my old smoker and how much smoke leaked out. Now I have the #3 it's going to take a little adjusting.

Definitely go light on the wood and work up to what tastes best strength wise.
