First smoke.
« on: December 04, 2015, 03:06:49 PM »
I've been grilling and smoking for years, but unfortunately my schedule leaves me no time to enjoy the finer things  :'(. Fast forward to this past weekend, SI3 purchased and seasoned. So, Tuesday I injected and dry rubbed my butt ;D and let it sit in the fridge for a few hours. I started the smoke at 10:30pm and went to bed. My garage smells fantastic btw. At 2pm I made a call to the wife (auber on it's way) to turn the SI3 down to 180 until I got home at 5:330pm.
15hrs @ 235
3.5hrs @ 180
Turned out really well, and I learned a bunch about the smoker on its first go.

Great first smoke....just the start of many. Welcome to the wonderful world of Lazy-Que. I was talking to my butcher yesterday about the Smokin-It. His Masterbuilt gave up the ghost (don't they all), and he is gonna get one after the first of the year. He said he wants a Smokin-It because "I have a life but I still want slow smoked meat"

Just about says it all don't it....................

Thanks Bob, I have two more butts patiently waiting, but I think I'm just going to grind them up and make a couple different kinds of sausage. I'll post on those as well. Actually, I'll be doing a couple chickens, brisket and then the sausages this weekend.
