Southern Chicken White Sauce
« on: July 29, 2015, 08:26:54 PM »
Found this on youtube last night.  Works A+ great, wife was skeptical at 1st but darn this turned out nice.

Chicken was 2 hours on charcoal with cherry extra wood.  ¼’s were .98 cents per lb this week!

CUT RECIPE IN ½ if YOU ARE DOING SMALLER AMOUNTS.

2 cups mayo (dukes)

½ cut cider vinegar

1 TBS pepper

1 TBS garlic powder

1 TBS Sugar

1 Teaspoon horseradish

1 teaspoon salt

Lemon juice and cheyenne pepper to taste

Use this “dip” after chicken is cooked, not sure if I’d baste and put in a smoker.

Sorry John...May be great stuff, for some, but you definitely lost me at "mayo" and "horseradish." :(   I'm one of the folks who can't tolerate a hint of either.

Hey Tony, how do you eat a bacon and tomato sandwich without Mayo? Granted that is the only thing I use it on but use large quantities as really brings out the tomato flavor.  :o

Sorry Bill & Bob - mayo is my "worst-hated" food.  You know how, when you're a kid, and you don't like certain foods, but then you do as an adult?  Mayo is the only food in that category for me that did NOT change as an adult!  Slightest taste of it makes me gag.  Probably too much info, but you asked! ;)

Tony it sounds like you should really pass on this recipe :)

I know when my wife and I first got married (she was a farm girl) shrimp and the lobster was not good. But over the years she tried a bit here and there and now she enjoys them.

Hmmmmm, Tony does that mean no miracle whip either? That is the way I am with peas and navy beans, make me gag. But, I love BBQ baked beans and Brooks hot & spicy chili beans in my chili, but just one can. I know am weird.  :o

Nope.  One in the same, in my book. :(

These days, I have to agree with Tony - I honestly don't know what the difference is.  Back when I was a kid, my sister was allergic to eggs (and wheat, and chocolate, and fish, and nuts (but not peanuts), and ... a lot of things), so we used Miracle Whip, because it didn't have eggs.  Now it does.  So, I have no idea why there's both.

Leah, based on my time in the south (MS, GA, AL,SC) southerners don't like mayo but tend to use Miracle Whip.
