hello from Iowa
« on: February 14, 2015, 08:10:16 PM »
Got me a #1 and still learning how to use it. Seems like a good forum, and I hope to both learn from others and participate as my skill set grows. Lots of room for improvement here, lol. 8)

Enjoy the learning Newguy. That's what makes it so much fun. Each smoke teaches you something new. Good luck.

thenewguy-

I welcome you from Marion, Iowa! I just got another new friend on here who's in Ames, IA and completed his first smoke yesterday. You picked a great product and reading up on these forums will give you a great foundation for creating out of this world BBQ. We like to call it Lazy-Q since the time is really all spent in picking your meat and preparing it for the smoke. Once it's smoking there's not much to watch other than the temperature probe in the meat. When the magic number hits you know it's time to pull, wrap, rest (few hours) and consume! Ribs being an exception...

We recommend you add your name and smoker model in your forum profile so people can see it on your posts. Everyone around here like to be on a more personable name basis when communicating.

Hi New Guy!  Tony's right - a first name and town in the Forum Profile is sure nice (unless you want us to keep calling you "New Guy").  We're here to help, so don't be shy, and hang out often!

Welcome! I'm an Iowa native myself born and raised in a small town near Cedar Rapids. The USAF then transplanted me to NC and been here ever since. This is a great forum with lots of info. Take advantage of it and you won't feel like anew guy for long. Happy smoking!
