Coke brined chicken
« on: January 12, 2015, 09:28:37 PM »
Ok this has been covered before but here's the version I use

Whole bird
1 C kosher salt (do not use table salt)
2 liter of dark soda (I like Dr Pepper)
I brine about 24 hours

I then smoke with Apple and cut in half
Then I use the following rub and grill it to get the skin crispy and the rub to stay on the bird

1/4 C veggie oil
2 T brown sugar
1T kosher salt
1T garlic powder
1T black pepper
1T dry mustard
1tsp paprika

Hi Pecos!  Welcome to the party!  When you get a chance, head over to the "Introductions" section and tell us a little about yourself and BBQ experience.  We like to get to know our new friends!  A first name and town, in your signature line, helps with that too! ;)

Coca-cola is definitely a BBQ sauce staple, in the Carolinas, but I haven't seen it used for a brine.  Great recipe, and worth a try!
