It may be stated somewhere but I haven't seen it..........Is the 201 stainless used in the #2 magnetic? My polders all have the magnet bases.would be handy. Thanks      Also, I'm playing with the icons to learn stuff....

I'm unsure of it being magnetic or what polders are.

polder is actually a brand name, its a remote temp gizmo like the mavericks ya'll mention, had one for about 12 years and works good, only 2 off at boiling temp.

201 stainless, as well as 304, are non-magnetic, or feeble-magnetic.  Means magnets will only barely attract, or not at all.

Before purchasing my number 3, I called Steve to ask if the smoker was 304 SS, he did confirm that it was not, however I can't recall what type it was. I'm pretty sure it is the same grade as the Smokin Tex.

According to this link (and several similar) 201 ss  uses less nickel due to cost but yields a tensile strength stronger than 304.

David, I just pulled up that site, that is some good information, I first thought we were getting shorted by the use of 201, now I know better, Thanks.
