I have some vids recorded but my laptop is having a problem with the USB for some reason. I might just have to install on my desktop and redo the vids. I might just post a teaser for now.

Thanks, Ben - we like teasers! ;D   Checked out the website; very cool unit.  Just don't know if I could justify the $$ until I see a review.  The Maverick is my friend, and I wouldn't want him to feel like I didn't need him anymore. :(

https://www.dropbox.com/s/7r2yfek1rxh6vi5/2014-02-05%2006.39.54.mp4  Just starter/teaser video. Like I said something is up with my laptop that it wasn't accepting the drivers or recognising the USB....has something to do with version of .NET that isn't installed on the computer. I will setup the unit on my desktop and make a newer video with it in full action. Sparing you the details of the install.

I won't drawer the Maverick, I will still end up using it to verify the temps. You know like a double safe backup plan.

Good start on the vid, Ben!  And yes, it's true you can never have too many thermometers for backup! ::)

OK here is a better video for you to ingest.

My very first thoughts on this is that the temp intervals need to be shortened and I don't know just yet how to get that done.  Overall the test is showing a very promising piece of equipment to add to the tool arsenal.

Cool gadget, Ben.  I'm on the jury, and we're still out until we see more evidence. ;)

Ok here goes first round of testing with the Tappecue. Kinda excited to see how well it does compared to the ET733. I really like seeing the temps on my phone. So sweet.

While the ET733 is much better with the range, I still have lost connection in my room. Which isn't very far at all. But it does pick up after a few seconds, so pretty great overall.

Tappecue is showing 3 deg difference in chamber probe temp (lower) than the maverick. I got an email back already today in regards to the intervals. They are set to 30sec intervals but can be set to as low as 20sec. So I changed that on mine. No way to cal the unit as of right now. But they did offer good news that graphing will be coming directly to the app. So that is some exciting news.

So today I have a pork loin cut in 2 brined overnight and rubbed. 1 with Famous Dave's and 1 with a local competitors rub (see photo) that I have never tried before.  Hope it is good. Also in the smoker is a small butt around 7.5lbs or so that I have my basic rub on.

Interesting thing is while I was typing this, I received an email notification that my smoker was above the max temp setting and within a few seconds I heard the belch. NOW THAT IS COOL! Toy or not this is pretty slick.

I will video more a little later in the smoke.

Looking good, Ben! Did you use the pork butt brine, or the loin brine?  Just curious... ;)

The butt brine, all was in the same brine so I figured why not just test out the butt brine on the loin and see how they do.

Not much difference, except for 1/2 Tsp. of curing salt in the loin brine, and I don't add the cayenne.
