I use Weiman Stainless Steel cleaner to polish and clean the outside after each use. Cheap and works great.

X2. Also just plain soap and water and a natural sponge.

I use a little Kroil penetrating oil or Marvel Mystery oil on a rag.

If your unit is fairly new, there will be a factory wax that also has to be taken off when you clean.  First attempts that leave a blotchy appearance are indications where you've gone through the factory wax.  I removed all of that with Barkeepers Friend and a fine scour pad.  Now I do simple cleaning between smokes with a variety of SS grill cleaners or multi surface spray cleaners.
