After bunch of reading, finally pulled the trigger and ordered the model 3D :D, already got the tracking # and will begin Fedex Truck stalking :P can't wait to put this puppy to work. Was smoking in a Primo Oval for the last couple years but wanted a dedicated smoker... and lazy Q sounds really good to me!

Welcome from Saint Augustine and a happy #2 owner.
You are really going to enjoy the results!

From one Kamado cooker to another, you made a very good choice. You're going to LOVE it! Use that Primo for everything else, leave the smoking to the 3D!!
Congrats on the trigger pull ;)

Congrats Bob (I'm assuming ;)) and welcome from ND!

I just love my Primo, reverse searing a big arse rib eye on the thing just made me discover the joy of good steak :P and that's not talking about pizza on the thing (the high temp you can get from those unit is amazing) but for the low n' slow, a dedicated unit will be awesome... (getting older made me lazier!!!) hopefully the amznps works great in it as my first smoke will be about 20lbs of assorted cheese...

The A-MAZE-N smokers can be used. But the oxygen starved environment of these smokers can make using them a challenge.

I have had better luck with my tube versions.

I had better luck with pellets. It helps to remove the smoke box to allow more air through the drain hole. Put your smoker in a windy spot and it should work well. I just smoked some cheese a couple of weeks ago and have a bunch more in the fridge ready to smoke.
I haven't tried smoking nuts yet, but that is going to be one of my next projects.

Congrats, Bob!! Welcome to the club!

Packing, Bob...to keep it from getting crushed. ;)
-
i'm a dumbass then 8) cause when i saw those, with holes drilled in them, i got the tape measure out and ctried to find matching holes on the unit... :-[
-
I don't know the story behind them, but know they don't attach to the unit anywhere.

Doing a test run, the small (6x6) amzn dust, drip pan and wood box removed, and after 2.5hrs, still going strong...outside temp is around 50f and the maverick is registering 71f right now in the middle of the rig. I think I'm going to be OK for a tomorrow big cheese smoke. (got about 30 lbs to smoke this week-end)
-
Please start a new thread in the cold smoking area and let us know how it goes. I have a pile of cheese in my fridge ready to smoke next week. I let my smoked cheese supply go get down to nothing this summer and plan to smoke enough to prevent that from happening again this year. I guess you could call that a New Year's resolution huh? :P

Congrats Bob, welcome from Pittsburgh!
