Title: James Jerky Dryer Speed Control.....
Post by: DiggingDogFarm on April 16, 2014, 05:51:16 PM
Does anyone have a recommendation on the best way to add speed control to the James Jerky Dryer.
I don't want to alter the dryer itself in any way.

Thanks!

Hmmm... Maybe plug it into a dimmer switch to alter the current?  Not sure, since it's a 12 volt conversion.  Why do you want to alter the speed?

I want to be able to provide just enough air to the A-Maze-N pellet smoke generator in the #4 without drying out whatever I'm smoking.

Ah.  Makes sense.  Curious why the AMNPS?  For long, cold smokes?  Just curious what you're trying to accomplish.  We're here to learn!

Well...not limited to any particular smoke generator....I do need to be able to generate smoke for an extended period of time (without much fuss) for whole hams and the like.
I have all three A-Maze-N smokers and use them in other situations.....just looking to make them easily adaptable to the #4.

Understand that I'm always experimenting.....always have and always will.  ;D

I like it, Martin!  Always "pushing the envelope," so to speak!  Hopefully PolishQ (Steve) will chime-in on this one; he's our resident engineer/electrical guru.  My thought is it's going to be some type of rheostat setup, but not sure how that will translate to the 12 volt conversion.
