Hello from NYC
« on: October 01, 2019, 07:35:03 PM »
Greetings from NYC.  Just ordered a model 3.   Stoked.  Can not wait for it to get here.  My name is Jamie.  Coming from a charbroil digital smoker that fell apart.  Charbroil sent me parts to fix my smoker but as i took out bolts more things just kept breaking.  I just ended up throwing it out.  Looking forward to not having to buy another smoker for a long time.  i still have a new smoker body in my basement from charbroil.  They wanted me to completely take apart the old smoker and put the parts on the new body.  Way too much of a time investment.  Glad to be on the bandwagon.

Jamie - Welcome from NY.  I also have a #3 and I suspect you'll love your smoker as much as I do.  Enjoy!

Welcome form Indiana.  Sounds like a frustrating experience with the Charbroil.  And to think I was very close to buying one of those.

As you await your new smoker, your best investment will be to read this forum.  There is so much advice on here about any topic you want to know.  But one thing that I have seen become a failure for too many users who migrated from other smokers is using too much wood.  And it will be bitter.  Get a kitchen scale and weigh your wood.  You only need between 2 and 6 oz for most smokes.  These smokers are efficient!  Download the Guide to Smoking Times, Temps, Woods from here:
https://www.smokinitforums.com/index.php?topic=2151.0

While you are at it, scroll down on the forum home page to the User Guideliens and Instruction section.  Lots of good info for new owners there.
