Auber now sells HeaterMeter's
« on: May 12, 2015, 01:19:40 AM »
I just found out Auber now sells the HeaterMeter PID. I think I'll tell them it can be used for electric smokers so they can expand it's listing:

Interesting, surprising they are letting people profit from building units.

Wow, that's cool they're offering that!  Trip - this is definitely a "niche" market that they're smart to capitalize on.  The vast majority of their customers (including me) want "off the shelf, plug and play" technology - which they have.  If you can make a buck or two off of the super-Q nerds (no offense to any HeaterMeter guys!), why not?  This is a project I would never undertake, but might be interested in a "plug and play" version!  Personally, the Auber PID is all the technology I require, but I totally respect those that want more, and the HeaterMeter seems to be the solution!

Looks like Bryan gave them permission. Here's the discussion:

Bryan isn't capitalizing on it from the looks of it.  It isn't typical in my experience to see DIY guys allow vendors to come in and build/profit off the devices.  Usually you see the guys like John and Peter build them for barely above cost.  The DIY niche usually likes to stay DIY.

Looks like Bryan hoped Auber would bring more to the table with the project though.

Interesting, Trip!  DIY guys that develop a good product sure leave a lot of money on the table, when they just let others profit off their hard work!
