Firebox hinge pins seam to have failed
« on: December 13, 2021, 11:34:48 AM »
Hi All,

My firebox's hinge "pins" are gone so now the hinge no longer hold the cover on.  Anyone have this before?  Any ideas for a fix?

I have not read about that on this board. I would call Steve, the owner of the company, and speak with him about it. See what he may be able to provide in regards to answers/resolutions.

I agree with Jeremy...I have been a member of the smokin-it community for 8 years, and I can't recall anyone posting about this problem.   I would definitely contact Steve and see what he suggests.

I know Steve has replacement boxes. A quick fix might be as close as your nearest hardware store.  Brazing rods might serve well as a replacement hinge pin.  There is also wire rods available.  All reasonably priced.  I suggest this if your unit is over 3 years old.
