Just got the chip screen for the #2, quick question, does anyone leave the screen in for all cooks, chunks and chips, be easy just to put it in and leave it.

I have never taken it out, no problems. Also less likely for my kids to loose it that way.

Some have reported chunks not smoking completely when using the chip screen (limits the heat).  I say try it, and let us know how it works.

I have had a few chunks that were partial burns but more often it is total charcoal. A few have reduced to ash but not often. I have never noticed alack of smoke though.

Well, I put my screen in today and cooked a slab of ribs with 2.5 oz of chunk hickory, didn't notice any difference, still had good smoke early but I didn't get much grease smoke later in the cooking like I did with the screen out, do more test later
