WSD-1204CPH PID for #2
« on: April 07, 2014, 01:23:16 PM »
For the extra $120 or so, is it better to grab a PID for Model #2 as opposed to the $60 Maverick?

I appreciate your thoughts.

I have the Auber PID with my model 2 and it's great. You program it for temp and time or internal meat temp and let it do it's thing. I did order a maverick a couple days ago to replace my walmart unit that died. I like being able to see the temps without running outside to check. If you were only going to get one I would go with the Auber.

The Auber is fantastic, and well-worth the money.  I also have a Maverick ET-732, and wouldn't survive without it.  While the Auber does monitor the meat temp, it does not give the remote capability.  I like to use the Maverick to give a backup temp for the meat (especially if I'm cooking 2 hunks), and to be able to see the temp in the house.  Remote viewing the meat temp fits right into my "Lazy Q" lifestyle. 8)

For reasons I won't go into here ::), I can't give you an exact measurement, but it's about 5 or 6 feet.
