If it were me I'd be pretty disappointed by seeing brand new equipment arrive already rusted, especially if it were $400.

Heck, I sent a (brand new) $129 pistol back to the manufacturer due to having rust right out of the box.

I've been perfectly happy with my smoker and Steve has been great to talk with on the phone as well as in e-mail, so I'd be giving him a call and discussing this.

everything is  figured out, the rust comes right off.

Welcome, Moonz!  That's unusual, for sure!  Steve, normally, inspects every unit before it ships, so I'm surprised this slipped through!  Glad to hear you got it worked out...now get to smokin-it! ;)

Moonz, you are going to love it! I did not have those issues with mine, but it appears you have it figured out. Keep us posted on your smoking-it results!

There was one other guy that posted about it several months ago. His was a new unit also, there was rust at the weld seams. He took it off with a green plastic scrub pad.
