Title: First smoke Success
Post by: Hank R on June 17, 2018, 10:40:44 PM
Used my #1 today for the first time and all 3 of us were surprised how tender and moist  the ribs were.  Almost fall of the bone,  did my own rub and rest in fridge over night.  225 for 4.5 hrs and no peak. The only thing is I used the flavor saver with a cup of Apple juice and it seems the some of the fat drips went into apple juice as level did not change much after the smoke is this normal?  Used Apple wood and really like the smell of the smoke and over all do not know what I would do different next time. ;D ;D

That’s a great start if you don’t have to change anything for next smoke! Congrats!

Glad you had a successful first smoke.  Don't worry about having liquid left over. Pretty normal, at least from my experience.

Great report! If you figure out how to bottle that aroma let me know. There are not many things better than stepping out and taking that in.

Congrats Hank .... only suggestion might be to log what you did, how you did it and environmental s ... humidity, outside temp. Reason being, smokes do change from one to the next with somewhat varying results over time and reviews can be beneficial.

I did log every ting except Humidity. I have logging how I make my rube for 5 years or so.  Looking back I have made a lot of changes , wonder how we ate some of it as on the bottm usually coment as to what changes for next time.
