seasoning gone haywire
« on: April 13, 2020, 03:15:50 PM »
I'll try to keep it short and sweet. 2D-Gen 3 Digital

Seasoning attempt:

set temp to 250
set time to 4 hours
zero'd out the 5 remaining program functions.

solid green light (no red light) gets up to 240 degrees within 30 mins, good smoke, feeling good.
greenlight starts blinking-understandable as approaching desired temp (250).
temp starts to drop-off, ok still seems reasonable, as element is cycling on/off.
temp continues to drop, green light goes solid again (no red light thru entire process, is this good or bad?).
temp continues to drop, now below 100 and am approaching 2 hours in...
the element is clearly not re-engaging...

thoughts?

I believe that will be my next step.
I power cycled the unit (started over) to see if I would get same result, as it is just a seasoning and no worries about meat being lost or ruined, and unit is not heating at all.
thanks for the reply!

You might have nothing more than a loose wire. The cover to the controller is easy to remove as its the back panel on the smoker.

emailed Steve, he was very prompt! (got back the same day) we tried a few troubleshooting ideas, double checked programing values, I removed the rear cover and ensured all the connections were tight, removed cover for controller and also ensured good connections. Unit continued to fail. Steve was nice enough to send out a new unit and I am currently awaiting its arrival!
Can't wait!
Thanks for checking in w/ helpful hints!
