Rack Welds Breaking
« on: March 03, 2023, 05:01:07 PM »
I recently bought a smoking-it 3 digital.  Love it.  I have used it about 7-8 times now.  But I noticed that on 2 of my racks, welds have broken.  I assure you there has been nothing done to them out of ordinary use.  I also have a Masterbuilt  smoker that I have had for over 10 years, and the racks for it are very cheap compared to the SI and they are still in great shape.  For the price of this smoker, I would have hoped that things would hold up a lot better then the $200 Masterbuilt.  I attached a pic of one of the racks.  Has anyone else had this problem.  I sent an email to the address listed on this site , and have heard nothing.

I cannot remember any prior problems with the racks.
How recent is recent?  If it was purchased new and is still under warranty Steve will take care of you.

Same issue with one of mine. Smokin-it promptly replaced it after I contacted them and provided a pic.

I had two racks that had a bad weld on each rack.  They were covered under warranty and were quickly replaced.

Just be patient.  With the bad weather, he may have had some outages.  Also, he may be under the weather.  SI is a small mom and pop business and not a large company like masterbuilt that you referenced. If it means anything, Steve has not yet responded to me either and we communicate pretty regularly.

I hear you brother, just wanted to make sure I'm heard.  In the mean time, followed the bacon group, have my first pork belly curing in the fridge tonight .

Steve will get back to you.  I just finished contacting the IT guy and he informed me that Steve had been traveling.  IT thinks yours and mine may have hit the spam folder.  I will call him tomorrow after church and see what is up.
