hello from Michigan
« on: October 14, 2022, 05:27:44 PM »
So excited to do my First cook ! Got my 3d in my new cook shed and seasoning it  now , will it help to run the seasoning method twice ?  This thing is built like a tank! Can't wait to compare my pork shoulder to my son's he's doing on his recteq that he loves so much. Wanted an easy to use smoker with less moving parts like the rectec and one that takes up less real estate.

Welcome from Delaware, Kevin!    I did not have the patience to wait for a second seasoning, so I would say do it once and get that pork shoulder in there!   You will love the ease of these smokers and let us know how the comparison works out!  Cheers

I only gave mine 1.5 seasonings. You will be fine, your cook will help season it more.  Just be sure to cover the wood bin and smoker floor with tin foil to help with cleaning.

Welcome to the forum from SE Arizona. 1 seasoning should do it.  I wiped mine down on the inside before seasoning just to remove any manufacturing left overs.  A big old butt will produce a lot of seasoning moisture and give your smoker a nice fragrant patina.  Not to mention good eats.
