pic attachment
« on: December 31, 2021, 01:58:25 PM »
I'm trying to post a pic that I have saved on my desktop for a question about cleaning #2. I've clicked on attachment and other options and then clicked on choose file and nothing happens, I've clicked on insert image, dragged image into it and this shows up... with no pic What must I be doing wrong?

poppy pig - I had problems as well.  I use an iMac.  I could not pull a photo direct from photos so I created a file in downloads.  Long story short, I use the iPhone for the picture, email it to me, save as download  and save as jpeg to a file labeled bbq, or scroll sawing, whatever it happens to be. Now it is easy to post a picture.  Don't know if I made any sense.

As for cleaning the smoker - I give mine a thorough brushing of all the peeling, flaking stuff clinging to the walls, door and ceiling.    The racks I hand clean in the kitchen sink.

the reason I wanted to post a pic is to show the inside of my smoker, I forgot to clean it after a smoke for a couple months and the inside, door, bottom, racks, pans, smoking box are all covered with a thick layer of mold. wondering best way to clean it, or can I power wash without messing anything (electronics) up
I have pic saved from my iPhone to my mac desktop as a jpg and also a pdf, when I click choose file under attach: nothing happens

I would start with some disposable plastic putty knives, dirt cheap at hardware stores.  After all the thick stuff has been scraped off and removed, oven cleaner.

Here is the photo of poppypig's smoker.  I stand by my recommendation of scraping and oven cleaner. Rinse off all cleaner and re-season :

Yikes!  I've never used oven cleaner on my smoker, but I'd make an exception for this.

Wow!   +1 on what Sarge said!    The re-seasoning after the cleaning is highly recommended to be safe!

Wipe it down with white vinegar after (and before wouldn't hurt) reseasoning too as it kills over 80% of mold species. I wipe mine after every smoke because it cuts grease pretty nicely too.

Lots of newspaper or a throw away tarp.  Going to be a messy job.  Enjoy!
