Grilling mesh!
« on: March 13, 2015, 07:54:24 AM »
Just poking around online I ran across this interesting item at Bed, Bath and Beyond - http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/non-stick-grilling-mesh/1041403006?

Looks like it would be perfect for jerky, fish, nuts etc... on top of a regular grate.  it's 13.5 x 18 so not quite full size for a #3 and it appears that you could cut it if needed without destroying it to fit a #2.  there's only 2 reviews and one of them did say it was used in a smoker.  for $14 (less the never ending supply of %20 off coupons would make it around $11) seems like it would be a handy accessory.  Still waiting for the #3's to be back in stock so obviously I haven't tried one yet but I plan on it.  Anyone else try something like this?

#3s are back in stock. I just did a test to see if I could add one to my cart and I could.

Go get one. ;)

The grilling mesh you show is pretty pricey.  You can get the same stuff, in bulk, from amazenproducts.com - they call it Q-Matz.  I have it, and it works great.  Cut to fit, and you can get it by the foot in 18" or 24" width.

Divot,

Do you use the qmatz for each smoke or just for fish and stuff like that??

How well does that stuff clean up?  It looks good for fish or jerky.

I was looking for the same and found what looks like a Rec Tec knock off - for 1/3 the price if you order a few of them and break the price of shipping down.

They'll be arriving this week, and hopefully I'll be able to use them this weekend and provide feedback on how well they worked.

I bought the Q-matz back when I had the MES40.  Good price and worked great.  Cleaned well too.
the SI#4 should be named "The American" because you can do everything in excess with it.  Just because you can.  'Murica!

Divot,

Just anything that will fall through the normal shelf.  Easy cleanup with soap and water.
