New to this whole deal. Which 2 probe thermometer will work best in Wisconsin in the winter? Been doing research and it seems a lot are not rated under 32 degrees f outside temp. I do not want to purchase one that breaks or will not work due to the cold, moisture build up and ultimately not working. Anyone using specific brand or model you would recommend? I looked up the Maverick 733 and 732 and the reviews weren’t that good. Am I missing something? Thanks, Kevin

Reviews not on this site.iI think I will try the 732. I will have to get the high temp gasket sealer. Any thoughts appreciated.

I use my Thermoworks Smoke outside in freezing weather. I lay the main unit flat on top of the smoker. The top doesn't get hot, but it is warmer than ambient temps so I don't worry about the 32 degree low operating range.

I’m also a Thermoworks user, the Chef Alarm is what I have. I’ve left it out over night in the winter here in New Mexico and it has done fine. Like Dave, I leave it on top of the smoker and it seems to do fine. It gets into the 10s/20s here most of the winter and has been ok.

I started out with the 732 and it worked fine in the beginning. The connections to the probes were a bit weak and ultimately I think one of them frayed, and I started getting erratic temp readings. But, it did work in colder temperatures. I ultimately switched to the Thermoworks SMOKE and it has been fantastic.

A big plus for the Smoke over the Maverick is how easy it is to set the alarms for the Smoke. I could never set my maverick without getting the user manual out.
