Title: Element dying?
Post by: mizzoufan on May 26, 2019, 09:47:15 AM
I've had my #2 for about 4 years now and have been happy, but today I had an extra probe already in the box so I just left it to see what my box temps were (haven't checked them in years) and haven't seen a temp above 175 (set at 250 max).

Removing the knob doesn't work because the post is turned as far as it can go.  Is my element dying or is there a way to increase the temps in the box?

Thanks

Steven - Check the built-in box probe for residue and debris. It may just need a good cleaning. Sometime when it is dark, check and see if your heating element has a bright even glow across the entire element when turned on and no dull or dead spots.  If you have a volt ohm meter, this link will be of help:

Thanks, Sarge.  It very well might be buildup on the probe.
