Nonsense characters appearing in posts

I could not find anyone else complaining about this, so maybe it is just my devices. But most of the posts and threads on this site contain gibberish non-standard text when I read them on either of my Android devices. Often, this occurs where an apostrophe or quotation mark should be present, but these are instead replaced with 3-5 wingding-style text characters.  I will paste an example from a recent post below.

place a .375”-.5” layer in a 9X13 baking dish

Anybody know of a fix or workaround?

Great idea. I’m going to try this. I’m just finishing eating a double smoked ham that we made and it was fabulous.

Thanks for the tip on the smoke tube. I’ve looked at this a few times but haven’t picked one up.

I went more wood chunks than I have before, added some in later in the smoke to get a little more as I wasn’t seeing much smoke.

All - I have sent a link to this page to Ben.  Let's see what he has to say.  I'm stymied.  I belong to several forums and once in a while, a post to one will come in from a foreign country with similar special characters.  I cannot figure out what it is happening here. David

UPDATE:  Ben is working on this.

I will be doing a site upgrade this week to resolve this and some other bug fixes.  This will cause a site theme change as the current theme is not supported by the new software.  Look for the changes this week.
