Pork Butt Burnt Ends
« on: September 20, 2013, 05:58:28 PM »
Yeah, I like burnt ends - can't get enough of them.

Timing:  The normal time it takes to smoke a pork butt to 170F + 2 more hours.  This figure depends on the weight of your pork butt, and how much char you want for your burnt ends.

Take the pork butt out when it reaches 170F - and remove/cut away the bone. Cut the remaining pork butt into bite size cubes about 1" square or as close as you can get them to that.  Put the cubes in an aluminum roasting pan.  Then use about 3/4 to 1/cup BBQ sauce or even margarine and BBQ sauce together to coat, and then stir enough rub to coat them on all sides. Put the pan back in the smoker and smoke for up  1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Nice to see you back, MN Guy!  Your Vikings looked pretty darn good against the Steelers yesterday! ;D

Hi Tony:

It is slowing down around here so I hope to contribute more to the forum.  Yeah, the Vikings actually didn't look too bad with a new QB.  Hopefully, he will be our starting QB in the future.

Now that summer is over, I look forward to some great fall BBQ, so I hope to learn from the experienced people on this forum :)

Go Vikes!!

No problem.  These are especially right for NFL RedZone football Sunday - which my husband watches all day long. There are *never* any leftovers with these. :-)
