Brand I use most
« on: February 15, 2015, 10:26:08 AM »
Sold by a little old lady out of her garage.  There are several flavors.  I just started using this mix at Christmas and I'm out already.  The Great Basin rub is probably my favorite mix for pork. Ordering is a little clunky but worth it for the product.

Hey Dave, it looks like they either discontinued that particular rub or renamed it. What are you seeing on the site?

Facebook info copy.  Tempted to try, esp the non salt?

Bill was a railroader most of his life and when he was home he liked to try new recipes. One day, we were out of garlic pepper. "Do you think we can make some as good as we are buying?" he asked. Well, after a while of trying this and that, Bill was sure we had it. Everyone liked it. He made it for our children and people at work.

Bill is gone now, but guess what? The Grandkids wanted some of Grandpa's "Special Seasoning." I started thinking, if the grandkids liked it - IT MUST BE GOOD!

So I decided to try offering Garlic Pepper at the Farmer's Market. And so I would have more than one product, I created three enhancing dry rubs.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Dave, ordered some by phone. You are right, it is sort of clunky. Looking forward to trying it.

This is kind of like Jim Baldridge's Secret Seasoning (not the rub, but the company and process).  They're a small family business in Nebraska, and do it all from their ranch.  When they first got internet ordering, you just ordered your seasoning, and they stuck an invoice in the box!  They shipped "on faith" that you'd like it enough to pay!  Craziest thing I'd ever seen, but it worked.  They take credit cards now. ;)

Gotta love the small producers like this!

Tony, I am sort of intrigued for some of these. How do we contact the Jim Baldridge secret society?  8)
