To wifi or not to wifi???
« on: May 23, 2019, 10:29:51 AM »
I have decided on the 4D. Last decision is whether or not I need the wifi? I am under the assumption that the PID is a set it and forget it controller, why the need for wifi monitoring? I used to use Thermowork's Smoke with the bluetooth remote monitor for my stick burner for obvious reason.
I will smoke anything if lies still long enough.
I do it all from sausages to cold smoked lox.

The wifi gives you the convenience of programming it and checking on it from your phone.  With multi-step programming it's convenient to see the whole thing listed out on one screen vs. hitting a set of buttons possibly hundreds of times to set and review the program.

The PID is reliable. But if you don’t want to physically check progress of a smoke you can do so from your recliner. No need to go outside. Convenience.
