Weather Conditions
« on: July 20, 2019, 12:26:00 PM »
Was planning to do a pork butt tomorrow.  I have to set the smoker in my driveway, as I live in a condo, and it is in direct sunlight most of the day.

Tomorrow calls for high of about 98.  Any reason to not use the unit in these conditions?  I was thinking of trying to jury rig a beach chair umbrella to try to keep the unit out of direct sun, any need for this?

If I recall correctly you have the #2, so there is no PID with plastic to worry about baking.  In direct sunlight the exterior stainless steel will get quite hot to the point of burn (to you) potential if you touch it.  It won't hurt the smoker, but maybe shade it if you want to handle it without potholders.
