Title: Simplified Bypass Switch
Post by: RalphM on January 17, 2021, 06:38:05 PM
Finally added the bypass modification to my SI #2.  Now the temp holds rock steady. The generally suggested procedure uses a double pole double throw (DPDT) switch to cut power to the controller and simultaneously short out the controller.  This works but can be simplified.  All that is necessary to bypass the controller is to add a single pole single throw (SPST) switch across the analog controller terminals.  This can be easily accomplished by adding piggy-back terminals to each of the analog controller terminals, and wiring from the piggy-back terminals to the SPST switch.  As with the DPDT approach, the analog controller should be bypassed ONLY WHEN AN EXTERNAL CONTROLLER SUCH AS THE AUBER IS USED.

I mounted my bypass switch on the back cover, so I used number 12 stranded wire, long enough to allow the cover to be removed without removing the switch.

Be sure to keep the original connections on their respective analog controller terminals to assure proper function of the indicator light.
