James jerky dryer for chimney top

Anyone use the James Jerky dryer SS body without the fan for just a simple chimney ?
Looking to receive my #4 model soon..

Thats a new one on me.  I don't have the dryer so tough to figure out the why.

  I get a lot smoke and moisture on top of my smoker. So I made a chimney out of 1 1/2 in chromed sink drain and brass slip fitting.  Filed a notch in bottom for temp probes to go through. I also fold a paper towel in quarters and tear a 1 in hole in it to fit over the exhaust vent to absorb moisture. Paper towel trick works well with jerky dryer too.
