What should be my PID?
« on: March 31, 2019, 01:25:43 AM »
I have the 3D.

Which settings are the right ones to use:
  • Initial programmed controller settings?
  • User Guide (page 16) settings?
  • Smokin-It's OEM?

The initial PID that was programmed into my controller:
P = 60
I = 800
D = 150
T = 2s

The documentation/user guide/manual on page 16 has these initial values:
P = 7
I = 600
D = 150
T = 2

Parameters Used in Smokin-It's OEM controller
Model 2
Symbol   Description   Initial
P   Proportional band   60
I   Integral constant (second)   850
d   Derivative constant (second)   130
Model 3:
Symbol   Description   Initial
P   Proportional band   60
I   Integral constant (second)   500
d   Derivative constant (second)   130

Model 4:
Symbol   Description   Initial
P   Proportional band   45
I   Integral constant (second)   875

Thank you.

Looks like a set up for a moonshot.
Glad I have an analog...

The correct settings are the factory settings P 60, I 800, D 150.  You can always perform an auto tune if you feel it is necessary or tweak the values to get where you want the controller to go. I have not found a need to do either.
