Title: Bella Smoke Generator
Post by: Bmag44 on September 22, 2021, 10:34:40 AM
Looking for advice on what type of drill bit to use to drill the 3/4 hole for the smoke tube on the Bella Smoke Generator.  There are several type of drills and bit materials, step bit or regular bit, cobalt, titanium...  What worked for you?  Don't want to spend 30 bucks on a bad bit.  I have tools, am mechanically inclined, just haven't had to drill in stainless before and don't want to mess the door up.  I plan on drilling in the door, bottom left corner.  Any advice will be helpful. Thank you Gentlemen.

I used a step bit. Don't push really hard, use slow speed and use water to help lubricate hole and keep metal cool.  Stainless gets very hard when it gets at all hot.

I bought a 3/4 inch bit.  I didn't get a clean hole  I wish I would have used a step bit.  I removed the door and used a drill press.  Slow and easy with plenty of cutting oil.
