Title: Full Load Meat Placement
Post by: TheLoga on December 07, 2017, 12:04:44 AM
I'm brand new to this, and just got a 5D. I figured you guys would be the best to ask this question... I want to do a full load of mixed meats. 2 Briskets, 4 pork butts and 10 racks of ribs.

Anybody done a big smoke like this? Where would you put the larger meats and thinner... Ribs up top, brisket in the middle, and pork on the bottom? Vice versa?

Thanks for any advice!

Butts and briskets will do well together but ribs are going to need another smoke.  Both butts and briskets are similar time smokes with similar amounts of wood, 6 oz. - 8 oz.  Ribs are only going to require 3 oz. - 4 oz. of wood.  The ribs will be too smoky if you try to smoke them with the rest of your meat.
