Burnt ends with Chuck Roast???
« on: June 25, 2019, 02:41:56 PM »
Someone I know, by mistake, grilled 1.5 pound of a chuck roast as a steak.  Taste was actually not bad.  Tough as nails, however.

Has anyone considered smoking one of these as burnt ends, instead of a brisket.  Would be smaller (if you didn't have a large group to feed), cheaper, etc.  Perhaps hours in the cooker would tenderize it up enough to make it tolerable/good?

Just thought I would ask

This is a great idea, a friend of mine does this a couple times a year for small parties. Below the recipe he uses, if you do a search you will find others.

Jeff looks good, I like the idea that you smoke it whole and then cut it up for the final phase.
Traveling for the next two weeks, but I will give it a try when I get back!

This is a great idea.  I tried a chuck once, kind of as a poor mans brisket.  It was just OK, but may have been due to my first attempt.  But to do burnt ends?  That could be awesome.  You can never get enough of them from the brisket.
