I just seasoned my brand new #2 tonight and when finished I opened the door to find the element had somehow shifted to the side by an inch or more. How, Why? I can’t imagine this is normal. Has anyone seen this before?

Mine is off a little, I know it’s not straight but I don’t recall by how much.
So yours was straight prior to seasoning and now it’s off? I think many of the elements are off a bit, from what I can remember reading here. It shouldn’t hamper the temp at all, unless it’s damaged somehow.
What is your first smoke going to be?

Was totally straight when the door closed to start seasoning, super weird. Wonder if the element runs too hot and caused it to warp?
Going simple tomorrow with chicken or ribs. Brisket or shoulder next week.

As long as the firebox goes in and out you're good.

Unless the element is loose, the chance that it shifted is remote. More likely the sheet metal band that protects the element and the wood box slides over it bent.

Mine was off center right from the seasoning smoke. Has not had any affect on function of the smoker. Good luck with your first smoke. I'm doing some Norwegian salmon today (first seafood for me).

Thanks for the feedback fellas. Steve said not to sweat it, so I won’t.
