3D timer question
« on: July 09, 2016, 09:41:41 PM »
I'm planning to do my first baby back smoke.  Looking to do 235 for approximately 5 - 5.5 hours.  At the 4 hour mark I was planning to take them out to baste and then put them back for the last hour or so.  My question is this.  If I set the timer for 4 hours will the unit turn off at that mark or will it continue to work and keep the temp at 235?

It will turn off,  UNLESS you have programed C-2 for more temp. (+ -) and time.

If C-2 through C-6 is set to 0 for time it will definitely shut off.

Joe, when I do ribs, I just set the initial time for 6 hours to give me wiggle room.  That way, it won't shut off until I know the ribs are done, then I hit the kill switch.

Tony - you must have been doing the Jedi mind trick on me.  That's exactly what I did - set the timer for 6 hours.  I took them out at the 5 hour mark for everything looked done.  The ribs came out great!  Didn't need to use any of the wiggle time.  The kids are begging me to do another smoke later this week.
