I use a spray bottle to spritz apple juice thru the smoke hole in the top of my #1. Works great to baste my pork and I never have to open the door.

Good idea, but I would worry about apple juice on the sides of the smoker creating a gummy, nasty mess. Of course, when it gets too nasty you could always clean the walls with oven cleaner and re-season the unit.
