SI2 temp problem
«
on:
November 29, 2015, 04:07:49 PM »
I started a turkey breast about 1.5 hours ago. It seems like the temperature knob
its working right. It turns on but the temp went super high and never cycled like it usually does. Any ideas?

It shuts off if I turn it all the way off. Not like it used to before. I could find the place where it would turn off. Now it seems as thought it is on or off. Thanks

What do you mean "the temp went super high," Howard?

My smoker temp probe was over 350. The element never turned off. Before now I could turn the temp knob down and see it turn off. Now there is just on and off.

I think Dave is right. Time for a new rheostat.

Interesting, for those (me included) that don't temp the box anymore. I bet this would be missed until burnt food arrived.

Call Steve, Howard, at the number on the door sticker. Your smoker is under warranty, and he'll send you a new controller.

Thanks everyone!! I called Steve and the new temp control is on the way. I think it was slowly going bad. That would explain the over cooked ribs on my smoke before the turkey and the chunk of charcoal that started as a chuck roast. I am looking forward to great food again.

If you need help/direction on how to install it, Howard, let us know. Not hard at all.
