You want to buy the Maverick ET-732. It's a dual probe thermometer.  One probe for the food and one for the smoker.  Using one as I type.

I agree with es1025 and recommend the Maverick as well.  I have been using it for several months now with good success!

Another vote for the Maverick ... I've got a review posted under "Gadgets & Gizmos" is you want the long story.  I saw over on another forum there are Remington brand being sold considerably cheaper and are actually "rebadged" Maverick ET-732 models:

if it's free, take it  ;)
its an earlier model,  the range is shorter quite a bit than the newer ones . not sure what the other differences are. if you have to pay for it, then just get the newer model 732
my 2 cents

Well, if you're not interested in the wireless feature and don't need the dual probe there's this:

This one is very inexpensive and would be a solid alternative to the Maverick.

The next one on my list is also a Thermoworks product but is a bit pricier than most:

I love the idea of having my thermometer sync to my iPhone but I wasn't impressed with the iGrill; this Thermoworks unit gives me that option and much more.  It's one definitely commercial-grade:  built like a tank, water resistant, etc. ... probably overkill for backyard use but that's never stopped me before.

Long story short, I don't think you'd regret the purchase of a Maverick, but there are some alternatives if you'd like to look elsewhere.

From time to time, Thermoworks has open box specials as well as other specials, but some are by invitation only so you need to subscribe.

But here is one that is pretty nice:
