Cigars & BBQ
« on: February 01, 2018, 07:53:20 PM »
Hi all,

Unlike traditional stick burner smokers, the lazy-Q approach provided by Smokin-It units does not chain the cook to the cooker for hours on end, consequently I suspect meal prep involves a tad less alcohol and cigars, but since I recently got into cigar smoking I just have to ask:   Would anyone be kind enough to share their experience/preference for pairing cigars with smoked meats?

I am not advocating having a fork in one hand and a cigar in the other while at the dinner table (to each his own...) but rather a good after dinner stogie and/or one to enjoy while awaiting the smokey goodness to come to temperature.

I thank you all in advance for your time and consideration.

I was a Marsh Wheeling smoker for many years till they closed down.  Still smoke a pipe with Carter Hall or Sir Walter Raleigh stuffed in the bowl.

I like to enjoy a drink and a good cigar whenever I am grilling or smoking meat too. I smoke a lot of Helix cigars but my all time favorite is Arturo Fuente.

A good cigar is one of the few simple pleasures in life. I am a big fan of the Drew Estate Java cigars.

+1 on the Arturo Fuente.  I really like their 8-5-8 brand, but I suspect all brands of their cigars are good.

Been years since I’ve had a cigar. Having kids around, I never wanted them to see me smoking one. But when I did have a cigar, it was a Cuban - I visited Cuba years ago as a teenager and, well you know. So a few boxes came home with me and then the family I traveled to Cuba with always could get Cohibas. One of these days, I’ll puff again, but I’m sure it will be just with by best friend while we sit out next to the fire with a bourbon. So I’ll revisit this thread to see what you all recommend and go from there.
