Title: SLC ribs--first smoke
Post by: Piksil on June 23, 2018, 09:30:33 PM
Not big on ribs, but wife and daughter are :)
They took the rain out of the forecast today, so I decided to go for it. Mixed up some Memphis Dust. Rinse, pat dry, lightly salt. Mustard, rub, 2.15 oz SmokinLicious cherry. Water in the flavor savor, 3/4 full. Set 3D to 231*, timed for 7 hrs. Top position.
6:45 later passed the toothpick test, turned off and let sit 15 min in the 3D.
Daughter had some sauce (SBR) on the side, wife and I ate as is. Good bark, fall off the bone (with encouragement  ;)), moist, and a little kick too. Success.
Maybe I'm a little bit bigger on ribs now ...
Oh, went to post office, cut the grass, and took a nap during the cook. Can't imagine doing all that with any other cooking means.
Sorry, no plated pics, we were hungry!

Skip,
I don't do ribs to often, they are on tonight's menu as well, with corn on the cob and a smoked baked potato.
Best Greg

Thanks guys!
Greg: gotta add smoked baked potato to the ever-growing list.

Really loving this smoker; and this site, with all the recipes to try, is a one stop fountain of information and cookbook rolled into one!

This is definitely my go to site. Not on here that often but when I need something it’s right here.

Eric:
Not sure yet. Working my way up to a brisket.
Probably try some baby backs, and a pork butt is not too far off. I ordered a Jerky Cannon, so going to give snack sticks and ground meat jerky a try as well.
Gonna try and get through this box of SmokinLicious wood as fast as I can, at least before it expires! ;D

Andre:
My source as well. Guess I really need to read the "Lazy-Q" booklet Steve sent!

Skip,
You will really like the smoked baked potato, takes about 5 hours, but man it is the best.
