A friend gave me a nice sized limb off his apple tree. About 2" in diameter at the thickest point. Need some suggestions on getting it ready for the smoker. I am thinking I will strip off the bark and slice into 1" thick discs on the band saw. Does that sound about right?

I use my table saw and cut disks of varying thickness from 3/8" - 1". I also capture all my sawdust under the saw and use for cold smokes. Personally, I don't worry about the thin bark on apple or cherry limbs.
